The Honourable Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka was elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji on December 24, 2022. He is the country’s seventh elected Head of Government and the first to be elected on the floor of Parliament, having previously served as Prime Minister from 1992 to 1999.

Prime Minister Rabuka has had a distinguished career in public service, spanning military, political, and international roles. He served for 23 years in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, including as Commander from 1987 to 1991. His international experience includes senior leadership positions with United Nations peacekeeping missions in Lebanon and with the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai. He was awarded the French Légion d’Honneur for bravery during his service in Lebanon.

In national and regional affairs, Prime Minister Rabuka has held senior positions including Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs, and Special Envoy of the Commonwealth Secretary-General to Solomon Islands. He has also represented Fiji in rugby and athletics at regional and international levels.

In 2021, he founded The People’s Alliance and led it to government following the 2022 general elections, forming a coalition administration. Prime Minister Rabuka is married to Mrs Sulueti Tuiloma Rabuka and has four children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
