A Celebration as America Turns 250

Perry World House will host a special series of events throughout 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
These timely conversations will connect defining chapters in the American story with contemporary issues. We’ll bring together leading experts – including voices who have helped shape recent history – to both celebrate the nation’s achievements and confront past and future challenges.
In May, a signature Alumni Weekend event focused on the history and future of higher education in the United States. Watch the recording here.
Throughout the fall, public programs will explore topics from scientific innovation and public health to the United States’ evolving role on the global stage. And no such series would be complete without a dedicated conversation about Penn’s own founding father, Ben Franklin.
